About IVXray

IVXray is a free, single-purpose lab bench for Pokémon IVs and stats. It exists because IV checking is genuinely mathematical - and the tools that respect the math deserve a clean, fast, private home.

Methodology

Every calculation runs the exact formulas the games use - no approximations: 

HP    = floor((2·Base + IV + floor(EV/4)) · Level/100) + Level + 10
Other = floor((floor((2·Base + IV + floor(EV/4)) · Level/100) + 5) · N)
N = 1.1 (nature boost) · 0.9 (nature drop) · 1 (neutral)
  • IV solving is exhaustive: each IV 0–31 is substituted into the formula and kept if it reproduces your observed stat. That's why results are ranges when rounding hides differences.
  • Characteristics are applied as hard constraints (stat tied for highest, IV ≡ k mod 5), with the encryption-constant tie-break treated soundly.
  • Hidden Power uses the Gen 3–7 bit formulas; breeding targets are computed by full enumeration of the 64 parity patterns.
  • Nature table is the canonical 25-nature set (5 neutral, 20 with +10%/−10%).

The math library is unit-tested against documented worked examples (including Bulbapedia's Hidden Power examples and well-known competitive stat values like a base-100/31/0 neutral stat being 236 at level 100) - 59 assertions at build time.

Base stats
PokéAPI - open API, no key. Snapshot 2026-10-11, 1,025 base-form species (National Dex #1–#1025). Fetched by scripts/fetch-pokedex.mjs and baked into the site.

Formulas and phrase tables are deterministic game data and are re-verified against the sources above on every release. If a source changes, the change log records it.

How this site is made

  • A static site built with Astro, served from Cloudflare Pages - no server-side processing at all.
  • All tools run client-side in your browser. Nothing you enter is transmitted, logged or stored; there are no accounts, ads or third-party trackers.
  • Code and content are developed with AI assistance and reviewed by the maintainers; formulas and data are verified against the cited sources above.

Limitations

  • Gen 1–2 (DVs, 0–15) are not supported - different system entirely.
  • Hyper Training is invisible to IV math: hyper-trained stats read as their trained value in-game while the true IV stays hidden.
  • EV solving isn't offered: with unknown EVs, IVs are mathematically unrecoverable from stats alone.
  • Alternate forms (Mega, regional variants beyond base forms) use base-form stats.

Is IVXray affiliated with Nintendo or The Pokémon Company?
No. IVXray is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Nintendo, Game Freak, The Pokémon Company or any of their affiliates. Pokémon and all related names are trademarks of Nintendo / Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK inc.
Why do other IV calculators disagree at low levels?
They usually don't - they show the same math differently. The game floors every intermediate step, so several IVs can produce one stat number. If a tool shows a single IV at level 10, it is guessing; IVXray always shows the true candidate range.
How current is the species data?
Base stats for all 1,025 base-form species were baked from PokéAPI on 2026-10-11 and ship inside the site. Regenerate any time with npm run fetch:pokedex.
Can I use IVXray offline?
Almost. Once a page has loaded, all math is local - but each tool page fetches the baked Pokédex JSON from the same server, so you need a connection for the first load of each page.
How do I report a wrong result?
Email [email protected] with the species, level, nature and stats you entered and what you expected. Every formula is also shown on its tool page so you can verify by hand.
